Cafe racers are pretty popular across the globe but aren’t particularly easy on the pocket. And this is exactly the gap that Lifan, a leading Chinese bike maker, wants to fill with its baby cafe racer, the KPM150 Cafe.
Justifying the ‘Cafe’ in its name, the bike packs a clip-on handlebar, raised aluminium footpegs, and most importantly, a cafe-racer fairing. In addition, there’s also a ribbed seat, a muscular 13-litre fuel tank, and a rear cowl, lending it a BMW R Nine T Racer-like appeal.
And complementing all this is a gloss black paint with sporty yellow graphics, which add to its retro character.
Like the design, the features are pretty impressive too. You get all-LED illumination, a fuel tank-mounted digital LCD instrument cluster, a USB port, bar-end mirrors, alloy wheels, a USD fork, and ABS.
The Lifan KPM150 is powered by a 150cc single-cylinder motor putting out an impressive 17.7PS and 14.5Nm, almost on par with India’s sportiest 150cc bike, the Yamaha R15 V4. And it tips the scales at 149kg, which should make it feel quite peppy.
How much must you shell out? Lifan is retailing the KPM150 Cafe at 13,180 Yuan (Rs 1.55 lakh) in China. At this price point, it is a good deal even by Indian standards, especially when you consider the premium looks and features.
